Energy efficiency

The energy film significantly improves the thermal insulation of glass in winter and helps reduce excessive heat buildup in summer. The film creates a selective coating (Low-E) on the glass, which improves the window's g-value and U-value.

Energy film – a more heat-retaining window in winter and less heat in summer

Energy film is an effective tool for improving windows. With energy film, you can change windows more heat-retaining, which is important in winter and at the same time repels excessive sun heat in summer.

An energy film is created on glass with a selective layer (Low-E), which changes the U-value and to a small extent the g-value of the glass. For example, if a film is applied to double glazing, the glazing unit will have properties comparable to triple glazing after the film is applied. The weaker the initial specifications of the glazing unit, the greater the efficiency achieved with the energy film.

Today's energy films are almost invisible on glass. That's why energy films are also suitable for older buildings with architectural value, where the building's exterior appearance cannot be altered, such as in the old town.

Energy film is ideal in situations where you want to improve the thermal insulation of window panes without having to replace the entire window unit. This means a smaller investment, faster installation, and often the possibility of achieving a noticeable result in places where window replacement would be inconvenient, costly, or even restricted (e.g., heritage buildings). In addition, energy film helps reduce the “cold window” sensation – the room feels more uniform and comfortable because the glass surface does not draw as much heat into itself.

Energy films are particularly well-suited for:

  • for older buildings, where window replacement is not recommended or possible
  • for apartments and private houses where cold can be felt through the windows in winter
  • buildings with large glass surfaces (facade windows, glass doors, display windows)

How does energy film help save money?

The purpose of the energy film is to change the U-value of existing glass. If heat loss through the window decreases, less heating power is needed, and the room stays warmer more stably.

The main benefits of energy film:

  • better heat retention and less heat loss in winter
  • Opportunity to significantly improve the indicators of a weaker glass package
  • almost invisible result on glass (also suitable for architecturally sensitive buildings)
  • A faster and more affordable alternative to window replacement
  • double glazing unit with a lower U-value

Installation and appearance

Since today's energy films are almost invisible on the glass, the overall impression of the building remains the same. This is important both in the old town area and on objects where the exterior appearance of the facade must be preserved. Installing energy film is a clean and fast process, and the selection of a suitable solution takes into account the type of glass unit, the building's location, and the purpose (more heat retention, less summer heat, or both at once).
